General information only
The content of this site is patient education. It describes what produces a hollow beneath the eye, how a hollow is told from a bag, and what treatment costs in time, recovery and risk. It is not a diagnosis, it is not a treatment recommendation for any individual, and it does not create a doctor-patient relationship.
No substitute for examination
Whether your own hollow is volume loss, a tethering ligament, the shape of your bone, a bulge or fluid depends on findings that can only be established by examining you: how the area behaves in overhead light, what happens to the groove when the cheek is lifted, what lies under the skin when it is pressed, and where the lower lid sits. Reading this site cannot substitute for that, and a plan made from a website alone is a plan made without information.
Results vary and are not guaranteed
Individual results differ, some treatments work over months rather than weeks, and no clinician and no website can guarantee an outcome. Any statement that appears to promise one should be treated with suspicion wherever you encounter it. The face continues to change after any treatment, further treatment may be needed later, and in this area under-filling is deliberately preferred to over-filling because it is easier to correct.
If something is wrong after treatment
If you have had an injection in this area and develop severe pain that does not settle, skin that turns pale, mottled, dusky or blistered, blistering or broken skin, or any change in vision, seek emergency care immediately and say what was injected and when. After surgery, rapidly increasing swelling, a tense painful area, spreading redness or fever, bleeding that does not stop, or a change in vision are all reasons to contact the treating team or seek emergency care rather than to wait for a routine appointment.
